Cambodia Hosts International Conference on Combating Tech Scams, Emphasizing Joint Action

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – September 24, 2026 – The international conference on combating technological fraud concluded in Phnom Penh with significant outcomes and valuable insights. Hosted by Cambodia, the one-and-a-half-day event, themed "Together Towards Breaking the Chain and Ending Technological Fraud," saw the participation of delegates from various nations. His Excellency Dr. Net Savoeun, Deputy Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee to Combat Technological Fraud, stated at the closing ceremony that the conference was crucial for sharing profound perspectives, excellent experiences, in-depth analyses, and important recommendations. He expressed pride in the fruitful results achieved. Dr. Net Savoeun highlighted that despite the conference's short duration, the summaries and outcomes clearly reflected the valuable contributions of all delegates. They shared experiences in responding to technological fraud offenses, discussed challenges and evolving trends in these crimes, explored building resilience and cybersecurity systems, addressed new issues arising from artificial intelligence (AI), and shared perspectives on financial investigations and challenges within digital financial systems. He further emphasized that all discussions and shared content were key to addressing the conference's theme. The exchanges over the past day and a half have left valuable lessons for all participants. A key takeaway, he noted, was the universal acknowledgment that combating technological fraud cannot be achieved by any single country alone. This underscores the necessity of international cooperation at all levels, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Hun Manet. Dr. Net Savoeun pointed out that while the incredible advancements in technology have brought unprecedented convenience to daily life, they have also created opportunities for criminals to engage in various illegal activities, including fraud. He reiterated that "scamming," in any form, causes immense harm to victims.
