Jakarta Deputy Governor Orders Bank Jakarta to Install ATMs in All Public Housing
The Deputy Governor of Jakarta has instructed Bank Jakarta to install ATMs in all public housing (rusun) units to improve financial access for residents. This initiative aims to promote financial inclusion and transform Jakarta into a global, inclusive city.
Jakarta's Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, has instructed Bank Jakarta to provide Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) in all public housing (rusun) units managed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This directive aims to improve banking service access for residents living in these accommodations. Karno stated that the provision of such facilities is crucial because many residents in public housing still face difficulties accessing banking services. "I have ordered the President Director of Bank Jakarta to ensure that all our public housing units have ATMs. Serving the community is far more important than just calculating investment value," Karno said in a written statement during the inauguration of Bank Jakarta's Kebayoran Park sub-branch on Monday (20/7). He emphasized that extending banking services to residential areas aligns with the effort to realize Jakarta as a global and inclusive city. Karno expressed his hope that Bank Jakarta would not only focus on business growth but also fulfill its role as a regional development bank capable of meeting community needs. Karno also appreciated Bank Jakarta's efforts in expanding its network and improving service quality for its customers. He noted that the transformation of regional banks should yield tangible benefits through easier access, faster services, and a more comfortable transaction experience for the public. The Kebayoran Park sub-branch serves as a prototype for Bank Jakarta's new generation of branches, implementing a "future branch" concept. This includes a more open and comfortable service space, simplified and digitized business processes, and enhanced professionalism among service staff. Bank Jakarta President Director, Agus Haryoto Widodo, explained that the new branch is not just about a new look but a change in how they serve customers. "The real change happens when the community feels the service is easier, faster, more comfortable, and more humane," he said. Widodo elaborated that the future branch concept is built on three main transformations: changes in service spaces, simplification and digitization of business processes, and strengthening service culture. "Jakarta, as a global city, needs regional financial institutions that are also capable of transformation, because a world-class city requires a regional bank with world-class service standards," he added. Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary of Bank Jakarta, Arie Rinaldi, explained that the development of the New Look Branch concept is part of Bank Jakarta's continuous efforts to strengthen corporate transformation and consistently implement its new identity across all office networks. "This renewal not only presents a more modern and representative appearance but also reflects the spirit of Bank Jakarta's transformation as an adaptive, innovative financial institution ready to respond to the dynamics of the ever-evolving banking industry," said Arie. This initiative is also seen as vital for supporting regional economic growth. Jakarta's economy grew by 5.59% in the first quarter of 2026, contributing 16.67% to the national economy. Bank Jakarta is expected to play a role in expanding access to financing and financial services for both the public and business actors.
