Malaysian Pilot Apprehended in Jakarta with 25kg of Narcotics

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have arrested a Malaysian national, identified as LKS (45), a pilot, for allegedly possessing 25 kilograms of methamphetamine. The arrest took place on October 27 at LKS's residence in Tangerang Selatan, a suburb of Jakarta. Police are investigating the possibility that LKS is part of an international drug trafficking syndicate. The seized methamphetamine is estimated to have a street value of approximately Rp50 billion (around US$3.2 million). According to police, LKS had been residing in Indonesia as a pilot for an airline and is believed to have entered the country with the intention of smuggling drugs. This incident highlights Indonesia's position as a key transit route for international drug trafficking. Indonesia has very strict penalties for drug offenses, including the death penalty.
