Indonesia's 'Living Fossil': The Horseshoe Crab's Untold Ecology and Protection

Horseshoe crabs in Indonesia, known locally as 'Belangkas', are 'living fossils' surviving since the Ordovician period around 485 million years ago. Belonging to the order Xiphosura, distinct from true crabs, three species inhabit Indonesian waters. They are found across a wide distribution and are legally protected.
