Myaingmu PDF Official and Wife Defect to Junta with Over 10 Weapons

SAGAING REGION – Myat Soe, the People's Defence Force (PDF) official for the Gon Nyin Seik sub-township in Myaingmu Township, Sagaing Region, and his wife have defected to the junta's army, taking with them more than 10 weapons, according to local sources. Myat Soe, the PDF official for the Gon Nyin Seik sub-township, joined the junta's army on the morning of September 13, around 9 a.m. His wife had reportedly joined them about three days prior. Myat Soe and his wife were reportedly facing action from revolutionary organizations due to their alleged involvement in extorting money from gambling dens, kidnapping, and robbery, among other acts of tyranny against civilians and travelers under the guise of revolution. "When actions were taken against him, it became difficult for him. When it became difficult to live and eat, he switched sides," Ko Lulin, a soldier from the Myaingmu City Revolution Force (MCRF), confirmed to the Irrawaddy Times. Furthermore, Myat Soe, who defected, reportedly took not only the weapons of some revolutionary soldiers but also the money collected to purchase weapons, with more than 10 weapons being taken. "His wife joined first. Three days later, he followed. It's circulating online that it was 11 weapons, but the exact number is unknown. I know it was over 10," he added. Regarding the weapons taken, township officials are conducting investigations. Currently, junta forces are flying drones for reconnaissance over the villages, and residents need to be cautious about their safety. "It's regrettable that the weapons were taken, but it means the revolution has become cleaner. It is because of people like this that there are stains on the history of the revolution," the source commented. According to local sources, there have been incidents of nearly ten PDF soldiers defecting to the junta's army in Myaingmu Township alone this September.
