Mimaropa police strengthen efforts to detect youth radicalization

The Police Regional Office in Mimaropa is bolstering its capability to detect and address early warning signs of radicalization and violence among the youth. The regional police force is holding a three-day seminar-workshop on Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE), which is set to conclude on Friday (September 4). Police personnel from Occidental and Oriental Mindoro provinces within the Mimaropa region are participating in this seminar. This initiative comes in response to growing concerns that social discontent and feelings of isolation, particularly among younger demographics, can sometimes lead to radical ideologies. The police aim to equip their officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and counter the potential threats posed by NVE. Mimaropa, located in the southern part of Luzon Island, encompasses the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
