Indonesia Pushes for Joint Action Against Trafficking Syndicates

Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) member Sahroni has strongly urged the National Police (Polri), Directorate General of Foreign Affairs Management (KP2MI), and Immigration Office (Imigrasi) to implement more robust and fundamental measures to eradicate human trafficking (TPPO) syndicates. Sahroni emphasized the importance of these agencies enhancing their collaboration and delving into the root causes that fuel human trafficking organizations for their complete eradication. This move could represent a significant step for Indonesia in fulfilling its responsibilities in human rights protection on the international stage. Human trafficking is a grave crime that strips victims of their dignity and freedom, recognized not only as a domestic issue within Indonesia but also as an international concern. Given the significant movement of workers both domestically and internationally, often driven by labor shortages and economic disparities, Indonesia has been identified as a potential hub for trafficking activities.
