The two arrested suspects were identified by the SPD as a 29-year-old Chinese individual with the alias “Yanchi” and a 31-year-old Chinese individual with the alias “Huaihuai.” They are now in the custody of the Pasay City Police Station, awaiting the filing of the proper criminal charges, the SPD said. It added that police investigators have identified two of their alleged cohorts who remain at large: alias “Xiaofei” and “Vi,” both aged 36. The condo owner, identified as a 30-year-old man with the alias “Miguel,” had come to the unit in Pasay City last Sunday night to collect rent from one of the suspects, according to the SPD in a statement. “Upon entering the unit, the victim was allegedly overpowered by the suspects. One of them reportedly pointed a firearm at him while the others tied and restrained him,” the police explained. “The suspects then forced the victim to transfer funds from his online banking account, mobile wallet, and cryptocurrency account to accounts under their control before taking his mobile phone and other personal belongings and fleeing the scene,” it added. The SPD noted that the suspects allegedly took P50,000 from the victim’s online banking account; P6,500 from his mobile wallet; and P139,992 from his cryptocurrency account, as well as the victim’s mobile phone. According to the police, the victim’s phone had been traced to a hotel along Roxas Boulevard, also in Pasay City, prompting operatives to track them down and arrest them early Monday morning.
