The General Department of Mines of Cambodia has pledged to reduce bureaucracy to facilitate service provision and support the development of the mining sector by the private sector. This commitment was made during a meeting to summarize the work results of the first half of the year and outline the direction for the second half. Mr. Ing Dipola, Director General of the General Department of Mines, stated on the official Facebook page on July 18 that non-tax revenue collection in the first six months of 2026 saw a remarkable increase, reaching $92.86 million, which is 129% of the national budget law. This signifies a significant achievement in revenue generation. Alongside these positive results, the General Department of Mines is committed to mobilizing revenue from the mining sector for the national economy and reducing bureaucracy to streamline services and support private sector development. This indicates a strategic move to foster growth within the mining industry. The department also highlighted its consideration for the balance between development and conservation, giving high priority to social and environmental impacts. Efforts will be made to increase benefits for local communities and enhance the safety and well-being of workers. Furthermore, the department aims to eradicate illegal mining activities.
