Ministry of Environment Invites Facebook Account Holder to Cooperate on Illegal Logging Allegations

The Ministry of Environment has issued a letter inviting Mr. Ma Chettra, the owner of the Facebook account named MaChettra, to cooperate and provide information and evidence related to the dissemination of news about illegal logging in the Preah Rung forest area. According to the invitation letter signed by lawyers Sok Davy and Tree Bakleang, on July 26, 2026, Mr. Ma Chettra posted a video alleging that some individuals had engaged in logging activities in the Preah Rung forest area, located in Phnyak Leuk village, Thma commune, Chay Sen district, Preah Vihear province. He also stated that these individuals were relatives of environmental officials. The Ministry of Environment considers the above dissemination of information as a case that requires thorough examination and verification to ascertain the truth and ensure that the implementation of the law is transparent and just. Therefore, as legal representatives of the Ministry of Environment, they have invited Mr. Ma Chettra to cooperate and provide information and evidence to serve as input for investigation, inquiry, and legal action against the involved parties. This invitation reflects the Ministry of Environment's commitment to protecting natural resources and strictly enforcing environmental laws, in line with the guiding principles of the Environmental Sector Strategy 'Green Pillar,' specifically the second phase of the Natural Resource Protection Strategy (2.1).
