Vietnam Railways Enhances Regional Economy and Tourism Through Service Innovation

Vietnam Railways is creating new growth momentum through product innovation, enhanced service quality, and strengthened links with localities and businesses. These practical changes contribute to connecting economic regions, promoting tourism, facilitating goods circulation, and better meeting the travel needs of the people. The railway sector, once challenged by dependence on foreign technology, is moving towards technological autonomy, aiming to break free from reliance. This aligns with the national strategy of industrial upgrading in Vietnam. Specific initiatives include the commencement of ticket sales for passenger trains after the peak summer season of 2026, aiming to support users' planned travel and promote railway usage. Additionally, special services dubbed "happy trains" are being offered for the families of railway crew, showing appreciation and support for railway workers and their families, likely boosting employee morale. Furthermore, a plan to train at least 35,000 railway personnel by 2030 is underway. This represents a long-term investment in securing specialized human resources to cope with the expansion and modernization of the railway network. Sincere actions, such as the return of lost items by the Saigon Railway Crew, are also recognized as part of service quality improvement. These reforms are crucial within the context of Vietnam's economic growth strategy, particularly in redressing regional disparities and revitalizing the domestic economy. Amidst state-led infrastructure investment under the one-party system, railway modernization is key to reducing logistics costs and integrating domestic markets.
