Seven Arrested in Ho Chi Minh City After Car Ramming Incident

Seven people have been arrested in Ho Chi Minh City on charges of public disorder after a car rammed into a group of people outside a restaurant following an argument. Among those arrested is 30-year-old driver Le Mien Nam. The incident occurred early on September 19th in the Cho Quan ward of Ho Chi Minh City. Nam and his companions were at a restaurant when, upon leaving, Nam's car collided with a motorcycle parked in the area. This led to a heated dispute between Nam and a restaurant employee. Despite attempts by his friends to de-escalate the situation, Nam reportedly got into his car and drove it into the group of people standing in front of the establishment. The ramming incident resulted in one person being injured and several motorcycles being damaged. Footage of the disturbance, captured by witnesses, circulated on social media. Police arrived at the scene and took the individuals involved to the station for questioning. Under Vietnam's single-party system, maintaining social order is a high priority, and such public disturbances are typically dealt with stringently.
