Food Sufficiency : President inspects agriculture and livestock farms

President U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe, Commander in Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo and concerned officials, inspected agriculture and livestock breeding zone implementations within Yangon Region on Saturday. At Thilawa multi-purpose agriculture and livestock breeding zone in Kyauktan Township, the President heard reports on completion status of tasks carried out in Thilawa, Shwe Pyi and 26-mile agriculture and livestock breeding zones, annual growth of yield, selective breeding of pedigree breed, as well as research activities using modern technologies and machine. The reports also focused on bio-gas production, further work implementations in respective zones, MaUbin and Shwe Mu Yin fishery enterprises implementation, operation of 500-ton cold storage facility (Hlaingthaya), as well as land utilization and agriculture and livestock breeding activities within Yangon Region. Upon reports, the President stressed on purpose of the zones which is to ensure an adequate supply of meat, fish, eggs, and vegetables for Yangon Region residents and gave necessary instructions encouraging on using modern breeding techniques to boost production. To meet the growing demand, the President urged all to strive for accleration of zone development, production process and systematic land utilization. The President also instructed to ensure a stable supply of essential food commodities in other regions and states. He also encouraged the production of value-added rubber products, manufacturing agricultural equipment and machinery as MSME products, and the adoption of a cooperative system based on MSMEs. Then, the President oversaw fish breeding process, fingerling farming and poultry farming and coordinated necessities. He also made a tour to poultry and dairy products displayed at the briefing hall.
