Alsons Power Secures Electricity Supply Deal with Japanese Metal Firm
Alsons Power Group has signed a deal to supply electricity to two manufacturing plants of Japanese-affiliated Makoto Metal Technology Inc. (MMTI) in Cebu, Philippines. The agreement aims to ensure reliable power and cost savings for MMTI.
MANILA, Philippines — Alcantara-led Alsons Power Group has secured a deal to supply electricity to Japanese-affiliated Makoto Metal Technology Inc.’s (MMTI) two manufacturing plants in Cebu. The agreement, facilitated through Alsons Power Supply Corp. (APSC), will allow MMTI to access reliable electricity for its manufacturing operations at Mactan Export Processing Zone II in Lapu-Lapu City. “For a manufacturing company like (MMTI), having a reliable, competitively priced and flexible electricity supply is essential to sustaining our operations and supporting our continued growth,” MMTI admin and support manager Jon Romulo Montances said. Under the government’s retail competition and open access program, qualified consumers such as MMTI can negotiate directly with their preferred supplier, allowing them to choose arrangements based on pricing, reliability and other supply terms. “What ultimately gave us confidence in APSC, however, was their ability to clearly explain why we were experiencing the challenges we have with our incumbent supplier and provide a solution that could significantly improve our electricity costs moving forward,” Montances said.
