Sherina Reports from Kalimantan Wildfire Site, Highlighting Extinguishing Efforts

Singer and actress Sherina Munaf has visited the site of the widespread forest and land fires (karhutla) in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, reporting on the severe conditions via her social media. Munaf visited Palangkaraya University and inspected a forest area approximately 200 meters from the university buildings that had been affected by fire. The burning forest was located close to the university's faculty buildings. She conveyed the dedication of local students who were working tirelessly on firefighting efforts late into the night, stating, "We need your help. Their enthusiasm to protect their campus area is extraordinary." Regarding the conditions at the fire site, Munaf described the challenges: "Honestly, this terrain was even more challenging. There were many very hot tree trunks on top of the flammable peat. Every step forward, we had to cool down the still hot and active embers. It was even hotter." She also assisted in cooling the ground where heat and embers remained. Commending the students' firefighting efforts, Munaf sent a message of encouragement: "Yesterday, they continued firefighting all day until 7 PM. To all students from all faculties, keep up the spirit, and don't forget to rest and take care of your health." Concerning the extinguishing process, Munaf also mentioned the use of a special fire-extinguishing soap developed by Palangkaraya University. This soap, when mixed with water and sprayed, is effective for rewetting the ground and extinguishing fires, as its components can put out flames more quickly. She explained, "This soap is used for rewetting and for extinguishing fires because its components can put out flames faster."
