Acting on information, the Anti-Narcotics Police Force searched a SURF-type vehicle driven by Aung Aung Htun (aka Aung Gyi) at the entrance of Kalay city around 4:30 PM on July 13, and seized 600,000 methamphetamine pills (worth 1.5 billion kyats in the local area) from the vehicle. Following his revelations, on July 14, they continued to arrest Htoun Shing Khai, who was waiting to receive the methamphetamine pills in the Taharn Ward of Kalay city, along with a PRADO-type vehicle, and Ma Kyin San Nyoung (aka Ma Nyan, aka San San, aka Ma Nyaung) at her home in the Tatphu Thita Ward of Kalay city, it was learned. According to the chain of investigations, the joint team arrested Zaw Zaw Lat and Ma Nwe Ni Lwin, who were involved in transporting and selling methamphetamine pills from Mandalay to Kalay, around 3 AM on July 17 at a guesthouse in the Ye Chan O Ward, Ward Group 12, Pyin Oo Lwin city, and Hlaing Thoon (aka Pa Htoun) at his home in Ward 10, Taharn Ward, Kalay city. Following their revelations, at 6 AM on the same day, an additional 960,000 methamphetamine pills (worth 1.44 billion kyats in the local area) seized by Zaw Zaw Lat and Ma Nwe Ni Lwin from a house in Ward (S), Pyigyitagon Township were seized, bringing the total seized in the incident to 1.56 million methamphetamine pills worth 2.94 billion kyats. Further investigations revealed that Htan Lam Kyint, who was involved in transporting and selling methamphetamine pills, was subsequently arrested at a warehouse in Sawtaw Village, Amarapura Township. It was learned that the main transporters and sellers of the seized methamphetamine pills from Mandalay to Kalay were Ma Su Mon Lwin (aka Su Lay, aka Ma Su, to be arrested) residing in Kan Gyi Village, Kalay Township, and Aung Kyaw Oo (to be arrested) residing in Ward 4, Lashio Township. In connection with the incident, they have been prosecuted under the Law Relating to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, and investigations into accomplices are ongoing. Furthermore, in order to confiscate the profits and assets obtained from their drug trafficking as public property, legal action is being taken under the Anti-Money Laundering Law, according to the statement from the Anti-Narcotics Police Force.
