Thai King and Queen Visit Hanoi University's Thai Language and Culture Center

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida visited Hanoi University on Wednesday afternoon as part of their state visit to Vietnam. The visit highlighted the strong ties between Vietnam and Thailand. The Thai Language and Culture Center at Hanoi University, established in 2009, plays a crucial role in fostering bilateral friendship through Thai language training, cultural exchanges, and student exchange programs. The King and Queen watched a dance performance by students and received best wishes from a student representative. Over 1,000 students at the university have studied Thai as a second foreign language, nearly 200 learners have taken short-term Thai courses, and approximately 150 students have studied or joined exchange programs in Thailand. Hanoi University President Nguyen Van Trao expressed his honor in hosting the royal couple, stating that the visit serves as a significant encouragement for the faculty, staff, and students. The university's Thai Cultural Space, renovated and expanded in 2018 with support from the Thai Embassy in Hanoi, is a highlight of cultural and educational cooperation, allowing Vietnamese students to learn about and experience Thai culture through language, art, and interactive activities. The King and Queen also observed students making handicrafts. Hanoi University leadership stated that the institution will continue to build on its strengths in foreign language training, international education, cultural exchange, and academic cooperation, creating more opportunities for students from both countries to learn, share experiences, and grow together, thereby nurturing friendship among the younger generation of Vietnam and Thailand.
