Ho Chi Minh City Family Attack: Grandfather and Grandson Recover from Critical Injuries

Ho Chi Minh City (VnExpress) – Two victims of a severe family attack in Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City, who sustained critical chest wounds and lung hemorrhages, have successfully passed the critical stage following emergency surgery. The 61-year-old grandfather and his 18-year-old grandson were admitted to Xuyen A General Hospital on September 25th. The two were brought to the hospital in a dire condition after suffering penetrating chest wounds and lung contusions. The grandson, in particular, sustained a severe penetrating wound to the right chest, along with multiple injuries to his face and head. Medical teams at the hospital performed emergency procedures and quickly transferred both patients to the operating room. An exploratory thoracotomy was conducted to assess the damage and control bleeding. Post-surgery, both patients are now out of critical danger and have been moved to the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Department for further monitoring. Currently, the grandfather is conscious and his health is stable, with his wounds managed. However, he is reportedly still experiencing psychological distress following the incident. The grandson's vital signs are also stable, and he remains under close observation. The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 24th. The suspect, identified as the family's son-in-law, was apprehended by police for investigation. He is alleged to have attacked his wife, one of the two daughters of the 61-year-old victim, and her father. Reports indicate that the couple, married for several years, had recently been arguing over relationship issues.
