AI Summary

Cambodia sees opportunities to strengthen trade and investment cooperation with Chongqing, China, aiming to leverage the Belt and Road Initiative and the New Land-Sea Corridor. The nation also plans to expand agricultural exports and collaborate in the tourism sector.

Cambodia is seeking to seize opportunities to strengthen trade and investment cooperation with Chongqing, China, by further utilizing cooperation mechanisms under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and enhancing connectivity with inland Chinese markets. The aim is to foster the development of economic relations between the two countries. Speaking on the occasion of the media promotional campaign launch in Chongqing on September 20, Cambodian Consul-General in Chongqing, Mr. Van Vithyea, stated that Cambodia can promote Chongqing's market and investment opportunities to Cambodian chambers of commerce and business associations. He emphasized the importance of organizing reciprocal business delegations and trade missions, as well as facilitating direct connections between Cambodian and Chinese enterprises through trade fairs and exhibitions to expand business matchmaking and investment opportunities. Mr. Vithyea pointed to the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, which connects China with ASEAN through Chongqing, as a crucial transport link that could facilitate the movement of goods, reduce logistics costs, and improve access for Cambodian products to inland Chinese markets. Concurrently, Cambodia can encourage investors from Chongqing to explore investment opportunities within Cambodia, using BRI cooperation mechanisms as a foundation for policy support and business cooperation. Furthermore, Cambodia can seek greater access for agricultural products and other goods to Chongqing and southwestern China. Chongqing's development as an international consumption center could open new opportunities in sectors such as tourism, restaurants, cross-border e-commerce, and product exhibitions. These initiatives are expected to help promote Cambodian products and brands in China and create new opportunities for exports, investment, and business partnerships between the two countries.
