PNP Seeks P1.5 Billion for Infrastructure in Proposed 2027 Budget

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) is seeking nearly P1.5 billion for infrastructure projects under its proposed P242.53-billion budget for 2027, as it continues assessing police stations and other facilities for repairs and improvements, the agency said Tuesday. In a statement, the PNP said the proposed budget is about P16 billion higher than the P226.55 billion appropriated for the agency in 2026. Of the proposed 2027 budget, P1.499 billion is earmarked for infrastructure projects, while P2 billion is allocated for the Capability Enhancement Program, covering mobility, communications, firepower and anti-terrorism equipment. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the assessment of police stations and other facilities is ongoing, particularly those affected by tropical cyclones and heavy rains in recent weeks. The assessment will help determine which facilities need to be constructed, repaired or improved, according to the PNP. Nartatez said the PNP would ensure that funds allocated for infrastructure projects are used properly to improve police services. “Police stations serve as the frontline of PNP services to the Filipino people, and we are committed to ensuring that all our facilities are accessible and presentable at all times,” Nartatez said. The infrastructure allocation, Nartatez added, would also help provide police personnel with facilities that better support their duties.
