Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing to Make Official Visit to Vietnam in September

Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife, will undertake an official visit to Vietnam from September 4-6, 2026, according to an announcement from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The visit is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, and his wife. The visit aims to strengthen friendly cooperation between the peoples of Vietnam and Myanmar and expand opportunities for cooperation in economic, trade, and investment sectors. Vietnam also indicated its intention to coordinate closely with ASEAN member states to support Myanmar. Vietnam and Myanmar have maintained good relations over the years, promoting the sharing of development experiences and fostering exchanges between their peoples. Diplomatic ties have been evident, including the presentation of credentials by the Vietnamese Ambassador to the President of Myanmar. This visit is expected to deepen bilateral relations and contribute to the stability and development of the Southeast Asian region. Vietnam intends to promote regional cooperation through its engagement with Myanmar within the ASEAN framework.
