Cambodia Implements Vocational Training for Inmates in Odor Mean Chey Prison

The Ministry of Justice of Cambodia inspected the progress of the rehabilitation program for young inmates at Odor Mean Chey Prison. On the afternoon of Thursday, July 30, 2026, Deputy Minister of Justice Dr. Kim Santiheap, representing the high-level guidance of H.E. Kert Rith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, led a delegation including leaders from the Ministry of Justice and the General Department of Prisons to inspect the implementation of sentences for young offenders transferred to Odor Mean Chey Provincial Prison. This initiative follows the high-level recommendations of H.E. Dr. Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. It should be noted that over 100 young offenders were transferred to Odor Mean Chey Provincial Prison to undergo further sentencing under the coordination of the Ministry of Justice. They are participating in vocational training in agriculture and construction to produce concrete tools, which are essential for frontline forces in defending national sovereignty. As a result of this mechanism's implementation, all transferred young offenders have demonstrated a spirit of awakening, striving to build themselves up, and actively participating in their specialized vocational work with responsibility and notable fruitful outcomes. This inspection aims to evaluate the implementation of this mechanism, report to H.E. the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, and seek further guidance on this vision.
