Cambodian People's Party Emphasizes 'Unity' for Local Election Victory

The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has strongly urged its members to maintain 'unity' ahead of the upcoming kommum/sangkat (village/commune) council elections. This call was made during a meeting held on September 19, 2026, at the party headquarters in Kampong Svay district to review September's party work results and outline future directions. Khuon Khundee, a member of the CPP's Central Committee and head of the working group for Kampong Svay district, emphasized during the meeting that strong internal unity is crucial for the party working group to achieve a 'brilliant victory' in the kommum/sangkat council elections. She stated, 'Our goal is one, we are in the same boat. Whatever problems arise, we must think together and solve them together, rather than blaming each other. Especially for the local party working groups, further encouragement is needed.' Khuon Khundee also addressed challenges such as the need for local authorities to maintain timely contact with citizens working abroad to ensure they have adequate documentation for voting. This is a critical effort to promote the participation of migrant workers and guarantee their rights. She expressed gratitude to all working group members for their cooperation and responsible planning and expenditures. Furthermore, the meeting touched upon the Cambodia-Thailand border issue, with assurances that leadership is working towards a peaceful resolution in accordance with international mechanisms.
