Police Seize 4.8 Trillion Rupiah Worth of Land in Bali in State Asset Corruption Case

The Indonesian National Police's Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortas Tipikor) has seized 23 hectares of state land in the Ungasan area, Badung Regency, Bali, with an estimated value of Rp 4.8 trillion. This seizure is part of an investigation into alleged misappropriation of state assets. The value of these assets, calculated by the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) up to 2024, reached Rp 2.2 trillion. This year, the asset value has surged, estimated to be around Rp 4.8 trillion, due to its location in a tourism area and its potential for tourism development and modern housing, according to Brigadier General Indra Lutrianto, Director of Asset Tracing and Security (P2A) of Kortas Tipikor Polri. "This figure is a temporary value and does not represent a final determination of state financial losses," Indra stated. The land, located about 1 kilometer from Melasti Beach, has been occupied by PT Marga Srikaton Dwipratama (MSD) since 2014. The dispute originated from an incomplete asset exchange (ruislag) process. PT MSD initially won the auction for the control of the 23 hectares in exchange for the construction of the Bali National Land Agency (BPN Bali) building. However, the promised building was never realized. In 2022, the Certificate of Use Rights for the 23 hectares was transferred from the Bali Regional Office of BPN to the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN). Despite this, PT MSD continued to occupy the land by fencing it off, posting signs, and establishing guard posts. This action is the background for the Kortas Tipikor Polri investigators to probe the alleged corruption related to the misappropriation of state assets. So far, nine witnesses have been questioned. These include individuals from the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the Bali Regional Office of BPN, and PT Marga Srikaton Dwipratama (MSD), which won the land auction. Representatives from PT Telehouse have also been questioned due to their telecommunication towers standing on the 23-hectare land. Brigadier General Indra Lutrianto indicated that the suspects in this case could be individuals or corporations.
