Cambodian Senate Assigns 4 Draft Laws on International Treaties and Agreements to Specialized Committees

The Cambodian Senate, on the morning of July 23, 2026, convened a meeting of its Permanent Committee to review and decide on five agenda items. The meeting, led by First Vice-President of the Senate, H.E. Uch Borith, addressed draft laws forwarded from the National Assembly. The agenda included: 1. A request from the National Assembly to review and provide opinions on the draft law on the approval of the Kingdom of Cambodia's accession to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and its Protocol, concerning specific cases of aircraft. 2. A request from the National Assembly to review and provide opinions on the draft law on the approval of the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Mutual Recognition. 3. A request from the National Assembly to review and provide opinions on the draft law on the approval of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement for Building Materials and Construction. 4. A request from the National Assembly to review and provide opinions on the draft law on the approval of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement for Product Type Approval for Automotive Products. 5. Other matters. Following examination and discussion, the Senate's Permanent Committee decided to assign the review of these four draft laws to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information (5th Committee) in collaboration with the Committee on Public Works, Transport, Civil Aviation, Posts, Telecommunications, Industry, Science, Technology, Innovation, Mines, Energy, Commerce, Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction (9th Committee). These draft laws will subsequently be submitted for opinions to the Permanent Committee and presented at an extraordinary session of the Senate.
