This year is the highest in electricity distribution in 16 years

This year has the highest average monthly electricity distribution in 16 years, from 2010 to 2026, with an average of 1987 million units distributed per month, said Union Minister U Ko Ko Lwin of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy. The Union Minister made this statement during a meeting with staff of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy serving in Yangon Region on the afternoon of September 14. Compared to 2025, the average monthly distribution this year has increased by 21 percent, and this increase is mainly due to increased power generation and the identification and prosecution of electricity theft. It is said that if power plants, substations, and main transmission lines are not destroyed, an average of 2240 million units per month can be distributed. Furthermore, the Union Minister urged all staff who interact with the public to provide services in order to create an electricity supply system that the public can rely on and that is essential for national economic development.
