Pattaya Marathon Sells Out in Two Hours, Attracting Over 21,000 Runners

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Pattaya Marathon 2026, scheduled for September 26-27, has achieved a remarkable sell-out in just two hours, attracting a record 21,727 runners from 58 countries. This rapid registration underscores the city's growing ambition to position itself as a premier sports tourism destination. The event's success was announced at a press conference held at Dusit Thani Pattaya on September 14, chaired by Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong. The briefing was attended by Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, representatives from the Tourism and Sports Office, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), private sector executives, and event sponsors. Pattaya City's Tourism and Sports Office is spearheading preparations in collaboration with Tri-League (Thailand) Co., Ltd., various government agencies, private sector partners, and sponsors. The organizers are actively promoting the marathon as a cornerstone of Pattaya's sports tourism strategy, aiming to elevate the standard of international sporting events hosted in the city. A highlight of the press conference included the unveiling of the official Amazing Thailand Pattaya Marathon 2026 race shirt during a fashion show. Mayor Poramet expressed his delight with the event's popularity, noting the swift sell-out and the diverse international participation. He emphasized that beyond promoting exercise and healthy lifestyles, the marathon is expected to generate significant economic benefits for local businesses and communities, further solidifying Pattaya's image as a 'Sport City' and a leading sports tourism hub. Preparations are currently underway by Pattaya City and relevant agencies to ensure a safe and seamless event. This includes meticulous planning for race routes, traffic management, security, emergency medical services, and facilities for participants and visitors.
