AI Summary

Vietnam aims to boost capital flow into quality, investment-ready projects amid accelerated public investment disbursement and a surge in FDI. The country is also implementing energy efficiency and green transition support measures, seeking to balance economic growth with sustainability.

Vietnam is promoting measures to effectively channel the growing capital inflows into quality, investment-ready projects. This is part of a strategy to accelerate public investment disbursement and maximize the tailwinds from a surge in foreign direct investment (FDI). In the first six months of the year, the disbursement of public investment capital nationwide reached over 356 trillion VND (13.52 billion USD), equivalent to 35.5% of the plan assigned by the Prime Minister. This represents an increase of 38.4 trillion VND in disbursed capital compared to the same period last year, driven by the highest ever planned public investment capital for 2026, totaling 1.01 quadrillion VND. On July 9, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung urged ministries, sectors, and localities to accelerate the implementation of four national target programs and ensure the full disbursement of all funds allocated for 2026, including more than 17 trillion VND (646.5 million USD) carried over from the 2021–2025 period. Meanwhile, as of June 30, total registered FDI, including newly registered capital, additional capital for existing projects, and foreign investors' capital contributions and share purchases, rose 61% year-on-year to 34.65 billion USD, indicating Vietnam's increasing attractiveness as an international investment destination. To enhance overall economic efficiency, energy use efficiency is seen as a way to lower production costs, reduce pressure on the supply system, and decrease the need for new investment. Hanoisme has proposed support programs for green transition, intellectual property, traceability, and cross-border e-commerce, as well as credit packages specifically for exporters. The aviation industry faces a market shaped by volatility in fuel and foreign exchange rates, high fleet costs, and constrained aircraft supply. At the local level, Lam Dong province, following last year's mergers, has become Vietnam's largest province by area, opening up significant development potential across industry, agriculture, tourism, services, and the marine economy. Phu Tho province has opened initial channels for cooperation with Belgian partners, aiming to translate these contacts into practical projects in high-tech agriculture, culture, heritage tourism, and investment. Vietnam consistently regards the US as one of its leading strategic partners and wishes to work with the US to maintain stable, substantive, and effective development of the comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of the two peoples, while contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world. Furthermore, Vietnam is committed to maintaining dialogue with investors, listening to their recommendations, and working to address difficulties on the basis of harmonizing interests and sharing risks.
