Cambodia Explores New Cooperation Avenues with Georgia and Cyprus

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received newly appointed Ambassador of Georgia to Cambodia H.E. Irakli Asashvili and Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Cambodia H.E. Ms. Koula Sophianou on Sept. 17 at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace, where they paid courtesy calls and presented their credentials. According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, on behalf of His Majesty the King of Cambodia, welcomed and congratulated the two new Ambassadors on their appointment, expressing hope that they would contribute to strengthening and developing bilateral relations between their respective countries and Cambodia. In the meeting with H.E. Irakli Asashvili, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed hope that the Georgian Ambassador’s tenure would contribute to further promoting and strengthening friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Georgia. The Ambassador, for his part, expressed his commitment to working to deepen bilateral relations, noting that ties between the two countries have been developing notably. The Acting Head of State welcomed H.E. Irakli Asashvili’s remarks and noted that despite the geographical distance between Cambodia and Georgia, the two countries could further strengthen relations and develop mutually beneficial cooperation. He encouraged the two sides to continue discussions and identify potential areas for expanded cooperation. Samdech Techo Hun Sen also recalled his previous visit to Georgia and expressed hope that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries would continue to grow. During the meeting with H.E. Ms. Koula Sophianou, the Ambassador thanked Samdech Techo Hun Sen for receiving her and expressed respect for his role as a prominent national and international figure. She highlighted the good relations between Cambodia and Cyprus and pledged to seek opportunities to expand cooperation, particularly in culture, people-to-people exchanges and the economy. Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the ambassador’s commitment and identified economic, trade and investment cooperation as important areas for advancing relations between Cambodia and Cyprus. He encouraged Cambodia and Cyprus to explore new opportunities and mechanisms to promote bilateral investment and trade, and expressed hope that Cyprus would have greater opportunities to increase investment in Cambodia, contributing to stronger economic ties between the two countries. Samdech Techo Hun Sen wished H.E. Irakli Asashvili and H.E. Ms. Koula Sophianou success in carrying out their respective diplomatic missions and duties in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
