Russian Siblings Murder Case Unearths Thai Family of Three Buried Nearby

The investigation into the murders of two Russian siblings in Chon Buri has led to the grim discovery of three members of a Thai family, missing for two months, buried nearby. The case has sent shockwaves through Thai society, highlighting concerns about public safety. One of the arrested suspects, Thana Kerdthong, 43, confessed not only to the killings of the Russian siblings but also to the murder of a Thai family of three (father, mother, and daughter) who had disappeared from the same Bang Lamung district two months prior. The motive was reportedly robbery. According to police, Thana and his alleged accomplices, Chatchanan Paen-aiam and Atsadang Chuwong, posed as police officers to gain entry to the victims' home, restraining the couple. The daughter, who later returned from a convenience store, was also apprehended. Investigators stated that the suspects then took all three to another location, shot them dead, and buried their bodies. Tukta, a relative of the missing Thai family, told reporters that the family had desperately searched for them. She expressed that without the police investigation into the Russian siblings' murders, the discovery of her relatives' bodies might have been further delayed. The family's car and motorcycle were still at their home, with no signs of a struggle. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul condemned the brutal killings as tantamount to "killing the entire nation" for damaging public confidence and tarnishing the country's reputation. He stated he would visit Chon Buri to follow up on the investigation. Police are continuing to verify Thana's statements and investigate his potential links to other crimes.
