Cambodia Attends ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Resilience in the Philippines

Kim Virak, Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General of the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) of Cambodia, led a delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Resilience, held in Manila, the Philippines, on September 15, 2026. During this occasion, H.E. Kim Virak also participated in the launch of the ASEAN Disaster Risk Monitoring and Review Report. This is a significant document aimed at strengthening the understanding of disaster risk trends and developments, as well as promoting more effective and timely planning of measures and policies for disaster risk reduction within the ASEAN region. During his participation in this meeting, H.E. Kim Virak held discussions and strengthened relations with leaders and representatives of ASEAN member countries, as well as leaders and representatives of international organizations and development partners. The aim was to exchange views, experiences, and knowledge, and to reinforce cooperation in the fields of disaster risk management, risk reduction, and building the resilience of communities and countries in the region. The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Ralph G. Recto, Executive Secretary of the Office of the President, representing the high authority of H.E. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines. The ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Resilience was also attended by representatives from ASEAN member countries, the United Nations, institutions related to disaster risk reduction, as well as representatives of national and international development partners.
