Cambodian Authorities Seize Contraband Smuggled from Thailand via Sea Route

Cambodian border authorities successfully intercepted a large quantity of goods and foodstuffs illegally smuggled from Thailand via a sea route on the night of September 15th in Mondol Seima district, Koh Kong province. The operation was launched after authorities gathered and reviewed video footage and evidence from the scene, confirming the illegal transportation of goods via the sea route in violation of the law. The seized items include premium rice (Bangrow brand, 50kg sacks), Codi brand cooking oil, soy sauce, fish sauce, pickled radish, and MAMA brand instant noodles. Additionally, various other goods, including oil drums, weighing scales, and numerous cardboard boxes that were prepared and packaged for stocking, were discovered. Currently, the seized goods are being held by the authorities for further examination and legal proceedings. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify all involved parties and the source of these smuggled goods to take legal action. Two merchants who were involved in the continuous illegal smuggling of goods from Thailand have been arrested and brought to court on September 16th. The arrested individuals are Mr. Puth Phirak, 43, the owner of the goods, and Mr. Yun Chantha, 37, the owner of the vehicle used to transport the goods.
