World Trade Center Expansion Secures Additional P140M Funding
The National Development Co. (NDC) has allocated an additional P140 million for the expansion of the World Trade Center (WTC) Metro Manila, aiming to enhance its capacity and international competitiveness.
The National Development Co. (NDC) has allocated P140 million in additional funding for the P3-billion expansion of the World Trade Center (WTC) Metro Manila property in Pasay City. In a statement on Tuesday, NDC said it released an additional equity investment of P140 million to Manila Exposition Complex, Inc. (MECI), the company that owns and operates WTC Metro Manila. Announced in June, the expansion of WTC Metro Manila seeks to increase its total capacity to 20,000 square meters by 2028. About P2.6 billion will be allocated to expand the exhibition hall, while P400 million will go towards a parking building. The NDC disbursed the funds to MECI on June 29, it said. Following the expansion, WTC Metro Manila will maintain an external space of about 7,000 square meters for outdoor set-ups. WTC Metro Manila has hosted major trade shows, conferences, and large-format industry events. The venue also benefits from proximity to nearby government offices, corporate headquarters, and international transit hubs, the NDC said. WTC Metro Manila is the Philippines’ first and only exhibition venue that is a member of the Union des Foires Internationales, a global association of trade show organizations and exhibition center operators. It is also part of an international network of over 300 World Trade Centers. NDC is the investment arm of the Department of Trade and Industry and has a 36% share in MECI.
