Hospital Director Transferred Over Card Games with Subordinates and Ghost-Shifting Allegations

The director of the Khlong Nueng Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital in Pathum Thani province has been immediately transferred after viral exposé by the “STRONG Anti-Corruption Club Thailand” webpage. The exposé implicated the director in allegations of hosting card games with subordinates in the examination room every evening, as well as involvement in a ghost-shifting scandal. Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Thoopkrachang, chief of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administration Office (PAO), announced that the director has been transferred to the PAO office. A fact-finding committee has also been established and is expected to complete its investigation within seven days. Regarding potential penalties, the PAO chief stated that decisions would be made in accordance with cabinet resolutions that explicitly address gambling within government premises. He assured that the matter would be handled decisively and swiftly. When asked about the possibility of dismissal from civil service, Thoopkrachang replied that the local administration must await the outcome of the committee’s investigation to determine appropriate disciplinary action, ensuring that all procedures strictly adhere to official government regulations. Staff members at the hospital reportedly expressed frustration due to the card games held by the director each evening. The webpage further argued that the director’s alleged behavior, including the intimidation of subordinates, could potentially interfere with witnesses and evidence, prompting the call for an immediate transfer.
