Cambodia's Kampong Speu Province Eyes Major Chinese Investment as Over 40 Firms Express Interest

Over 40 Chinese companies have expressed interest in investing hundreds of millions of US dollars in Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia. This was revealed during a meeting on September 18, 2026, in Nanning, China, where a delegation from Kampong Speu Province met with representatives from 42 Chinese enterprises, according to Governor Dr. Cham Chansophann. Governor Cham Chansophann stated that the provincial delegation presented Kampong Speu's abundant potential and the significant number of investors already operating in the province to the Chinese companies. In response, the companies pledged to visit the province soon to explore investment opportunities. The governor identified nine key sectors that these 42 interested companies are focusing on: 1. Agriculture and agro-processing 2. Industry and manufacturing 3. Construction and building materials 4. Tourism and culture 5. Investment and commerce 6. Technology and digital 7. Mining 8. Logistics and transportation 9. New energy and environment Governor Cham Chansophann added that among the interested firms, some are existing investors seeking to expand their operations, while others are new entrants planning to establish factories in the province. The provincial administration is committed to fostering a welcoming environment for these potential Chinese investors, ensuring hospitality, public safety and order, and facilitating all necessary procedures. Kampong Speu Province currently hosts approximately 3,000 factories and enterprises, employing around 400,000 workers, in addition to those working in livestock farms and plantations. The growth of these industries is significantly absorbing labor from surrounding provinces, thereby strengthening the regional economy. Kampong Speu is poised to become a crucial hub for industrial and manufacturing projects in Cambodia.
