Wife of police officer robbed of gold necklace while offering alms in Mandalay

It has been reported that a robbery occurred around 7 AM on September 5th in front of a house located between 30th Street and 67th Street, 68th Street in Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay City, where the wife of a police officer, who was offering alms, had her gold necklace snatched. The incident involved the wife of an Assistant Police Superintendent, who habitually offered alms every morning in front of her house between 30th Street and 67th Street, 68th Street. As she was entering her house after offering alms on the day of the incident, a person on a motorcycle entered her house and snatched the gold necklace she was wearing around her neck before fleeing. "I was robbed as I was entering the house after offering alms. It seems they took advantage of the early morning alms-giving time when there were few people around. People offering alms were also present on the opposite side, at the District Police Auxiliary Unit, so everyone shouted immediately after it happened. They fled on a motorcycle. I think the gold was about 3 ticals (approximately 18 grams)," said a resident living near the scene of the incident. It is also known that a case has been opened at the No. 3 Police Station and an investigation is underway regarding this gold necklace robbery. Furthermore, on July 8th, a bicycle worth approximately 4 million kyats (around $2,000 USD) of the M Size Specialized Rockhopper type was stolen from in front of a house, which is a government employee dormitory, located between 30th Street and 64th Street, 65th Street in Chanayethazan Township.
