ASEAN, RoK Seek Deeper Economic Ties with Vietnam in Focus

Vietnam is strengthening its role as a strategic hub in enhancing economic ties between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Republic of Korea (RoK). South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs highlighted the rapidly growing demand for Korean food in Vietnam, driven by the popularity of the Korean Wave (Hallyu), positioning the country as a strategic market in its plans to expand agricultural and food exports to the ASEAN region. Participants reviewed the progress in implementing plans to advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two sides and discussed ways to expand cooperation. Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK, Vu Ho, urged ASEAN and South Korea to translate leaders' commitments into concrete actions and upgrade economic cooperation towards a more equal partnership based on high-quality investment, mutual respect, and mutual benefit. Vietnam's growing international presence is evident, as it is recognized by Canada as an important partner in the Indo-Pacific and a valued partner within APEC and the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). Relations with Japan have also reached a very high level of trust between the peoples and governments, described as a crucial achievement and a valuable asset for future generations to build a better future together. Under its one-party system, Vietnam has achieved significant economic growth. Enhancing cooperation with the international community is a key strategy for further domestic economic development and expanding its international influence. Particularly amid complex relations with China, strengthening ties with neighboring countries like ASEAN members, South Korea, and Japan is an indispensable element of Vietnam's diplomatic and economic strategy.
