Vietnam, Cambodia Boost Security Cooperation and Law Enforcement Coordination

Politburo member and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang highly praised the annual conference of the Ministers of Public Security/Interior of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. He described it as a crucial cooperation mechanism for strengthening coordination in safeguarding national security and maintaining social order and safety, thereby contributing to a stable environment for socio-economic development. This conference is seen as bringing new momentum to bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. Building on their traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation, both countries are also promoting the sharing of legislative experience. The strengthening of security cooperation in this context signifies a further deepening of bilateral relations. Under Vietnam's one-party system, maintaining social order and stability in people's lives is considered a prerequisite for economic growth. Therefore, strengthening coordination among security agencies is an indispensable policy for ensuring domestic stability. Particularly, crime prevention and information sharing between the two neighboring countries are extremely important for addressing cross-border crimes such as terrorism, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. This enhanced cooperation can also be seen as part of Vietnam's broader strategy to maintain and expand its influence in Southeast Asia while strategically balancing its relations with China. Deepening cooperation with Cambodia is a strategic decision that contributes to regional stability and the safeguarding of Vietnam's national interests.
