Thai-Cambodian Border Sees Heightened Tensions Amid Military Drills

In Thailand's eastern Sa Kaeo province, the "Trai Harn 13" (13th Ranger Forces) unit conducted military exercises, including live-fire drills, at the Khao E-Dang training ground. The exercises focused on mobile firing practice at distances of 300, 200, and 100 meters, aiming to enhance the unit's combat capabilities. These drills are understood to be intended for skill enhancement in response to potential security risks along the Cambodian border and the escalating situation in Myanmar. Thailand has long faced various challenges in managing its borders, particularly with neighboring countries like Myanmar and Cambodia. Myanmar, in particular, has been in a state of civil conflict since the 2021 coup, raising concerns about refugee flows into Thailand and the activities of armed groups near the border. Historically, friction has also occurred between Thailand and Cambodia over territorial issues and economic activities.
