Four tiger cubs successfully born at Yangon Zoological Gardens

It has been learned that the Yangon Zoological Gardens, located at the foot of Mandalay Hill, has announced the successful birth of four tiger cubs to a male tiger named Jackson and a female tiger named Waii Chite, who are under care at the zoo. The births took place on the night of August 31st and the early morning of September 1st. The four tiger cubs were born at 10:06 PM, 10:53 PM on August 31st, and at 4:09 AM and 5:00 AM on September 1st, respectively. Animal conservation and care involve not only daily feeding and health management but also systematic planning and protection for future generations. The Htoo Zoos & Gardens Business Unit is actively applying the knowledge and techniques gained from workshops and training sessions with foreign experts, along with SEAZA Guidelines, at various zoos. As a result of systematically developing and implementing an Animal Collection Plan at these zoos, the Yangon Zoological Gardens has successfully given birth to four healthy tiger cubs from the male tiger Jackson and the female tiger Waii Chite, according to the news release. Male tiger Jackson and female tiger Waii Chite are of the Bengal tiger subspecies, which is classified as an endangered animal. The tiger species is the Bengal tiger, and according to the Red List published by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), it is classified as an Endangered Species. While tigers have bred at the Yangon Zoological Gardens before, the birth of four cubs is a first. Male tiger Jackson is 9 years old and was transferred from the Yangon Zoological Gardens to the Yangon Zoological Gardens for conservation purposes. Female tiger Waii Chite is 4 and a half years old and was born at the Yangon Zoological Gardens. The Yangon Zoological Gardens is being developed into a Conservation Zoo, which is the concept for zoos. It houses 41 species of mammals, 36 species of birds, 12 species of reptiles, and rare animals such as red pandas, star tortoises, tamarins, marmosets, great hornbills, and white-bellied sea eagles.
