Vietnam, France to Enhance Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President To Lam's visit to France is advancing diplomatic efforts to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. Established in 2024, the visit primarily aims to drive the concrete implementation of this partnership, enhance the strategic autonomy of both countries, and support Vietnam's ambitious development goals. According to the Élysée Palace, deepening this cooperative relationship is recognized as essential for Vietnam's economic growth and its elevated standing in the international community. Cooperation in the defense sector is also being invigorated, with collaboration strengthening across multiple areas. This is positioned as a measure to respond to the evolving regional and international security landscape and protect the security interests of both nations. Furthermore, France is moving forward with the ratification process for the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), which is expected to further solidify economic ties and promote foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam. The ratification of EVIPA could contribute to improving Vietnam's business environment and expanding access for EU companies to the Vietnamese market. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth and seeks to achieve its objectives through diverse international partnerships.
