Vietnam's Enduring Commitment to Agent Orange Victims on 65th Anniversary

In Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, a charity walk titled "For Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims" was organized on August 2nd at Nguyen Hue Walking Street by the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. This event commemorates the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam, which spans from August 10, 1961, to August 10, 2026, highlighting the critical need for ongoing support for the victims. The program included free health check-ups and medicine distribution for the victims. A "common home" for Agent Orange/dioxin victims has also been established, providing a space for them to gather and support each other. To date, over 2.424 trillion Vietnamese Dong (approximately USD 100 million) has been mobilized through various initiatives to care for the victims. The Agent Orange defoliant used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War has caused long-term health problems for many Vietnamese citizens, with effects spanning generations. The Vietnamese government has prioritized supporting and caring for these victims as a key objective in addressing this tragic legacy, promoting efforts across society to alleviate their suffering.
