One Thousand Offerings Ceremony Held at Kyaitdetamobrat Children Monk Monastery in Pophawadi Village, Yae Township

It is known that a ceremony to offer one thousand portions of alms was held on the morning of September 21st (the 10th day of the waxing moon of Tawthalin) at the Children Monk Monastery within the Kyaitdetamobrat Children Monk Mission Area in Pophawadi Village, Yae Township, Mon State. This ceremony of offering one thousand portions of alms has been held annually since September 3, 1994, the day the foundation stone was laid for the Great Wethayanta Hair Relic Pagoda within the Kyaitdetamobrat Children Monk Mission Area, and this year marks its 32nd anniversary, according to a custodian. He further stated, "This ceremony of offering one thousand portions of alms is jointly organized every year by the lay patrons and patronesses of the venerable elder children monks. Although it is the rainy season of Tawthalin month, it is remarkable that on the morning of the 10th day of the waxing moon of Tawthalin, when the ceremony is held, it does not rain, and local residents and donors can come and accumulate merit in full on the pagoda's courtyard." It is also known that hundreds of Mon ethnic people from areas such as Lamai, Kawdut, Moknanin, Thaungpin, Taungbon, Yae Town, Abo, Duya, Andin, Hangan, and Khoza in Yae Township visit annually to accumulate merit at this ceremony of offering one thousand portions of alms. Bhaddanta Popharama, the venerable elder children monk of Kyaitdetamobrat Children Monk Monastery in Pophawadi Village, Yae Township, located by the Mawlamyine-Yae highway, is a renowned missionary monk in the Mon region, and although many pilgrims visit the Children Monk Mission Area from various regions, it is also known that currently, due to the security situation in the area, the number of pilgrims has decreased.
