Justice Minister Encourages Microfinance Association to Strengthen Customer Protection and Utilize Dispute Resolution Mechanisms

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the financial sector for its contribution to resolving disputes and challenges faced by citizens related to the use of financial services, especially the understanding and attention paid to customers facing repayment difficulties. The meeting aimed to discuss several issues related to cases of banks and microfinance institutions currently undergoing legal proceedings, as well as to strengthen cooperation between the NCDRA and the two associations. Leaders from the Ministry of Justice, NCDRA, the Association of Banks in Cambodia, and the Financial Services Consumer Protection Center (FCPC) also attended the meeting. On this occasion, Mr. Sok Voeun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Microfinance Association of Cambodia, briefed on the progress and general overview of the microfinance sector in Cambodia, as well as the efforts of the association and related sectors in resolving complaints and disputes for customers, especially efforts to promote customer protection in the microfinance sector. The Chairman also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Justice for its attention and for establishing a non-judicial dispute resolution mechanism, which plays a crucial role in helping to resolve disputes between customers and banking and financial institutions.
