Battambang Province Distributes 2,661 Land Titles to Citizens

Battambang Province, western Cambodia, distributed 2,661 land ownership certificates to residents of Angkrong and Doan Trei villages in Chrey commune, Moung Russey district, on July 21, 2024. Governor Sok Lu presided over the ceremony, handing over the certificates to 1,006 families. Governor Sok Lu advised the citizens who received the ownership certificates to preserve them well and pass them on to their children and grandchildren. For poor and vulnerable families identified by the Ministry of Planning, land title service fees are waived. General families are required to pay 4 Riels per square meter for agricultural land and 30 Riels per square meter for construction land. These fees contribute to the financing of land titling services and administrative support. The Governor appealed to the public to use water sparingly, citing the El Niño phenomenon that causes extremely hot weather and scarce rainfall across the country. Battambang province is also experiencing water shortages and insufficient rainfall. He asked for understanding from farmers facing difficulties in irrigating their rice crops, as water distribution has been limited to reserve some for future shortages. Residents expressed their happiness and gratitude to Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, for providing valuable land ownership certificates for use and inheritance by future generations.
