Phu Quoc Island Strengthens Power Infrastructure with New 220kV Substation Ahead of 2027 APEC

The Southern Power Projects Management Board, An Giang Electricity Company, and the Southern Power System Operation Center, all under the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), have successfully completed the energization and inspection of the 220kV Phu Quoc Substation, built in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone. This project aims to ensure a safe and continuous power supply for the 2027 APEC Summit. The acceleration of infrastructure development for the APEC meeting suggests the growing importance of Vietnam's role on the international stage. Phu Quoc Island is positioned as a special city to be built on the foundation of a sustainable and civilized society. The completion of plans for the construction, arrangement, and technical infrastructure of the International Press Center during the 2027 APEC Summit is also being pursued. In terms of economic growth, An Giang province is leading the Mekong Delta region in economic expansion, and the strengthening of power infrastructure serves as a foundation for the further development of regional economies. Under Vietnam's single-party system, large-scale infrastructure investments led by the state are a crucial driving force for economic growth.
