Dien Bien Province Allocates Over 49.5 Billion VND for Boarding Student Policies

Dien Bien Province in northwestern Vietnam has decided to allocate an additional 49.5 billion VND (approximately 240 million JPY) for the implementation of policies for boarding students in 10 communes located in border areas. This funding is designated for the year 2026. The additional allocation is in accordance with Government Decree No. 188/2026/ND-CP, issued on May 27, 2026, and aims to ensure the timely provision of appropriate support to boarding students. Dien Bien Province continues to implement financial support measures to guarantee equal educational opportunities for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Dien Bien Province is actively engaged in various initiatives to improve community development and residents' lives, including border guards assisting impoverished families, commendations for outstanding achievements in the '500-day and night' campaign, and cultural and sports events celebrating the 81st anniversary of National Day on September 2. Furthermore, the recent groundbreaking for the FPT Education Complex project signifies an effort to expand educational infrastructure. Concurrently, reports indicate a reduction of 272 public educational institutions and facilities within the province, suggesting ongoing structural changes in the education sector. Vietnam's education policies are an integral part of its national strategy to foster human resources as a driver of economic growth. Support for students in remote and border regions, particularly those facing geographical disadvantages, is a crucial aspect of addressing regional disparities and improving overall educational standards nationwide. Under the one-party system, planned fiscal investment by the government forms the foundation for the realization of such policies. Moreover, Dien Bien Province, bordering China, sees socio-economic stability and development as critical from a security perspective.
