Inspection of Rehabilitation Works: MOSWRR DM inspected rehabilitation works in Tonzang

Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thant Zaw Lwin met departmental staff, town elders and local residents at the Roman Catholic Church Hall in Tonzang Township on September 7. During the meeting, he called for public participation in rehabilitation and reconstruction, greater efforts to nurture educated youth and the return of those wishing to rejoin the legal fold. He also urged local entrepreneurs to make use of state-backed loans and promote small and medium-sized businesses and industries by processing local raw materials into finished products. The Deputy Minister said the visit aimed to support rehabilitation and reconstruction in Falam, Tedim and Tonzang townships damaged by terrorist. The government was providing roofing sheets, corrugated iron sheets and cement for damaged homes through the National Disaster Management Committee fund, while damaged government offices were being reconstructed with committee and approved state funds. This was followed by the reports on regional development and rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. The construction materials like roofing sheets, corrugated iron sheets, and cement bags were then provided for the damaged houses in Tedim. The Deputy Minister and party later inspected the reconstruction of the damaged-office buildings within the town and instructed for timely completion of construction work in a quality manner while coordinating the necessary measures.
