Cambodia's Kandal Province Explores Sister-Province Ties with China's Hailongjiang

Kandal Province, Cambodia, and Hailongjiang Province, China, held a meeting on July 21, 2026, to discuss the potential for establishing sister-province ties between the two regions. The meeting was attended by Ms. Sun Sreynang, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province, and a delegation led by Mr. Han Shengjian, Deputy Governor of Hailongjiang Province, People's Republic of China. The primary objective of the meeting between Kandal Province and Hailongjiang Province was to examine the feasibility of forging sister-province relations, with the aim of promoting enhanced cooperation, particularly in the tourism sector and other key investment areas. Ms. Sun Sreynang affirmed that the Kandal Provincial Administration will strive to expedite the procedures for establishing sister-province ties between Kandal Province and Hailongjiang Province, People's Republic of China. During the occasion, Mr. Han Shengjian also pledged to issue an invitation for a delegation from Kandal Province to visit Hailongjiang Province in the near future. This initiative signifies a step towards strengthening sub-national ties between Cambodia and China, a crucial aspect for Cambodia as it seeks to attract Chinese investment and boost tourism.
