President Prabowo to Attend 100th Anniversary of Gontor Islamic Boarding School

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the 100th anniversary celebration of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor in Ponorogo, East Java, on Saturday (19/9). Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed the President's visit. The President's presence at the event signifies state support for the development of pesantren education and human resources. President Prabowo, accompanied by several ministers and regional heads, will arrive in East Java via Lanud Iswahjudi in Magetan and then proceed by helicopter to the Unida Gontor campus. During his visit, President Prabowo will officially inaugurate the Faculty of Medicine at Darussalam University (Unida Gontor), located within the university complex. Following the inauguration, the President will attend the 100th-anniversary reception of the Islamic educational institution, which was established in 1926. The event will feature welcoming remarks from the leader of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, KH Hasan Abdullah Sahal. Mohamed Abdelrahman Eldeweny, the Deputy Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar University in Egypt, is also scheduled to deliver a speech on the long-standing educational and academic ties between Gontor and Egypt. President Prabowo is expected to deliver a speech to the members of the Gontor Foundation's Board of Trustees, faculty, students, alumni, and invited guests from various regions of Indonesia and abroad.
